Submission Guidelines
As a free, no-strings-attached database we rely on our community to help us keep the database up-to-date with the most useful information.
New Additions
To add a new addition to the database, select a link to the right of the page (you must be logged in to access the link).
- Make sure the item doesn't already exist in the database by trying to search for the part number or drilling down into the appropriate category..
- The "Title" field must be in {PART_NUMBER} - {ROAD_NAME} or {PART_NUMBER} - {NAME} format (ex: ART32411 - Southern or ART11905 - Stationary Rollers)
- Railroad names should be spelled out (Chicago & North Western vs. C&NW) and the word "and" should be denoted with the "&" symbol.
- Leave 'Title alias' blank.
- Select an appropriate category.
- Leave 'Tags' blank.
- The Content area can be used to enter an optional description for the item
- If uploading an image under the "Image" tab, it is preferred that the manufactuer's stock image be uploaded. Images should be 500px wide and 175 px tall.
- "Media" should be left blank.
- The "Extra Fields" tab will be populated when a category is selected. As many of these fields should be populated as possible.
- Do not add any attachments.
- Click "Save" at the top-right of the page.
Items submitted by users will be unpublished by default, so they won't show up in the database until they're approved by an administrator. Once an item is published, users can edit their own submissions but making changes will again cause the item to unpublish until the change is approved by an administrator. Approvals will generally happen in less than one day.
